Diagnostic Ultrasound Scanning

Non-Invasive Imaging to Support Accurate Diagnosis

We’re excited to announce that Diagnostic Ultrasound Scanning will soon be available at Fortis Health & Wellbeing. This advanced imaging service will enhance our ability to assess soft tissues, muscles, tendons, ligaments, joints, and other structures in a safe, non-invasive way, helping us diagnose conditions more accurately and support more effective treatment planning.

Diagnostic ultrasound is widely used in modern healthcare because it provides real-time visualisation of your body’s internal structures without radiation. Whether you’re experiencing persistent pain, injury, swelling, or unexplained symptoms, ultrasound scanning can play a key role in understanding what’s happening beneath the surface.

What is Diagnostic Ultrasound Scanning?

Diagnostic ultrasound (also known as sonography) uses high-frequency sound waves to create images of the inside of your body. A trained clinician applies a small probe and gel to the skin, allowing the ultrasound waves to generate live images on a screen.

This type of imaging is:

  • Safe and radiation-free

  • Comfortable and non-invasive

  • Fast and efficient

  • Useful for a wide range of clinical conditions

What Conditions Can It Help With?

Diagnostic ultrasound scanning can support assessment of:

  • Musculoskeletal injuries (e.g., tendon tears, muscle strains, bursitis)

  • Joint and soft tissue conditions

  • Nerve entrapments

  • Swelling or unexplained localised pain

  • Guidance for targeted treatments (e.g., injection procedures)

This imaging allows our clinicians to examine structures in motion and identify issues that may not be visible on X-rays or through clinical examination alone.
